Our April 13, 2013 City Challenge Urban Race was in Huntington Beach, California!
The weather was nice and cool with a decent cloud cover for the better part of the day that provided phenomenal running conditions. The 5K & Half Marathon courses were scenic, flat and FAST! Anyone who has run a race with grueling uphills, and a lot of twists and turns can appreciate this. We worked around the clock in the months leading up to the race to jam pack the courses with as many interesting locations as possible, while at the same time being spot on with regard to mileage (the toughest part of course design) and we heard time and time again we were successful in that.
A very special thank you is in order for Kris Martin, Yulanda Blanchard and Donatella Havericak of the Huntington Beach Beer Co. for hosting the race, and so graciously accommodating such a large group of hungry and thirsty runners afterwards! Chris Cole of the City of Huntington Beach Special Events Office was very helpful in ensuring everything went off without a hitch, and we look forward to working with him and the HBPD again next year. Thanks again to all runners who came out to take on the challenge, and should any of you have pictures you’d like to see used in official promos please email them to: firstname.lastname@example.org
